  PHYSICAL THERAPY AND CANCER TREATMENT

Patients with breast cancer often face some
type of surgery, whether it is a lumpectomy,
lymph node removal, mastectomy, or breast
reconstruction. Patients who have other types

Lymph node dissection often causes lymphedema,
which causes the patientʼs arm to swell and
become immobilized. Premierʼs expert therapists
provide individualized care including:

  • Pre-operative screenings

  • Education on reducing lymphedema risk

  • Lymphedema therapy

  • Treatment for Axillary Web Syndrome

  • Scar tissue work

  • Post-breast reconstruction rehabilitation

Patients who undergo other types of breast
cancer treatment, such as radiation or
chemotherapy, can benefi t from:

  • Radiation precaution education

  • Scar tissue work

  • Management of chemotherapy side effects

  • Overall shoulder stretching,

  • strengthening and cardiovascular conditioning

According to the National Cancer Institute,
81% of cancer patients report experiencing Cancer
Related Fatigue. Our therapists work with you to
create a customized activity and rest program
